The Rotary Club of Launceston, Tas, is assisting two community support organisations in Launceston – Li-Ve Tasmania and Multicap Tasmania – providing services to clients in group homes and in their own homes during the COVID-19 emergency.
Club Secretary Ross Hart noted that it was difficult for organisations like these to access support and supplies in the emergency. So, club President Colleen McGann organised for the purchase of 1200 Personal Protective Equipment face masks from a supplier in NSW, who prioritised the order.
Sourcing the supply of face masks was one thing; having them delivered to Launceston was another, due to severe disruption of air freight services across the Bass Strait. However, the face masks arrived safely in Launceston on May 18.
