Equality and collaboration will shine bright at the Zone 8 Conference in 2022.
Earlier this year, Rotaract Australia sent Zone 8 Rotary International Director Jessie Harman an impressive proposal to co-host the 2022 Zone 8 Conference outlining how the zone could further bring Rotary and Rotaract closer together, fostering stronger relationships and elevating Rotaract to be an equal partner in service.
Now, it is set to become a reality.
“I am proud to announce that in 2022, the Zone 8 Conference/Institute will be a formal collaboration between Rotary and Rotaract and the partnership will deliver a truly unique conference where enthusiasm and collaboration will take a focus.”
Over the past few years, at a local, national and international level, conversations have been increasing about ways Rotary and Rotaract can collaborate in meaningful and constructive ways.
According to RI Director Jessie Harman, collaboration is something districts and clubs across the zone have been discussing and implementing with great enthusiasm.
“We have Rotaractors playing an active role in the creation of events and projects, taking up roles on district boards and feeling valued for their contributions to service in our community,” Jessie said.
“We have seen some incredible partnerships and work happen as a result of Rotaractors and Rotarians coming together and when I received the Rotaract Australia proposal to co-host the conference I knew this was our chance to show the world what Rotaractors and Rotarians in Australia, New Zealand and the Pacific Islands can do at a zone level.
“I am proud to announce that in 2022, the Zone 8 Conference/Institute will be a formal collaboration between Rotary and Rotaract and the partnership will deliver a truly unique conference where enthusiasm and collaboration will take a focus.”
The 2022 conference will feature the very best of both Rotary and Rotaract annual conferences – great speakers, breakout sessions and presentation of awards, as well as plenty of time for socialising.
“Given that the pandemic has prevented us meeting in person these past two years, we are particularly excited about the opportunity to catch up with friends again, both old and new,” Jessie said.
The event will be held in Canberra, ACT, on October 28-30, 2022, with the Governor Elect Training Seminar and Governor Nominee Training Seminar to be held in the same location from October 25-28, 2022.
The conference team will be made up of equal numbers of Rotaractors and Rotarians from Australia, New Zealand and the Pacific.
Conference co-chairs Rotaractor Andrew Giumelli and Past District Governor John McKenzie say they are determined to deliver an exciting conference that showcases Rotary and Rotaract in its finest across the zone.
“We are excited to bring an exciting, innovative conference to Canberra, with a program to inspire, challenge and foster partnership in all our attendees,” Andrew said.
“Our vision is that the conference will show the best of Rotaract and Rotary through the combination of inspirational speakers and learning more about how we can share ideas, projects, skills and experience,” added John.
