By PDG Leanne Jaggs Zone 8 2024 Convenor
After rediscovering our ‘Moments that Matter’ in 2023, we can now ‘Dream, Dare, Deliver’ in 2024.
Join us for the Australian, New Zealand and Pacific Island Zone 8 Conference at Rydges/QT in Queenstown, NZ, November 1-3, 2024.
The dedicated Conference Committee is working hard to bring you an inspiring, thought provoking, entertaining and different conference. Instead of breakout sessions, you will have the option of ‘Doing’ something good for our local communities.
- Adopt a Plot – Take a gondola ride from Brecon Street to Bob’s Peak and take part in two hours of weeding a plot. Participants need to be semi-fit for a 15-minute walk in and then back out with the weeds. (Additional cost to cover gondola ride)
- Kiwi Harvest – Kiwi Harvest rescues food from hotels and cafes, then packs it into food parcel boxes. Board a bus out to Frankton to see the operation and help pack boxes for the local community.
- Woman’s Refuge Bags & Polio Walk – Help pack handbags for Women’s Refuge then take a walk around Queenstown Gardens for the End Polio Now campaign.
To celebrate your good work, the Saturday night gala dinner is not to be missed. The theme for this spectacular evening is, ‘Wish Upon a Star’, so start thinking about what to wear! It will be a great way to end a very busy Saturday.
Sunday’s activities start at 9.30am, giving those dancing queens and party goers a small sleep in. The weekend will wrap up at 1pm allowing everyone to head home or head off to enjoy some southern hospitality.
So, start planning now, especially your accommodation. With Queenstown being one of our most popular tourist destinations, Rydges/QT is already sold out. However, there are many great accommodation sites offering a 100 per cent refund, like Booking.com, and many wonderful BnB’s.
For the Aussies looking to come over, we have an amazing Air New Zealand deal available from May 1. Book at airnewzealand.com.au using the promo code ROTA24.
Registration is open at rotaryzone8.org. We look forward to seeing you all in November.
