The Applecross Jacaranda Festival is a big annual event organised by the Rotary Club of Applecross. This year marks the 22nd anniversary of the festival, which will be held on Saturday, November 19. The club will once again take over a section of Ardross Street, in the heart of Applecross Village, and deliver a fantastic, family friendly day of fun and entertainment. The entire village takes on a new aspect, with local businesses joining in the festivities.
The Jacaranda Festival is a celebration of all things community and this year there will be 150+ stalls offering something for everyone. There is always plenty of food choices – last year Brendan Pang, owner of Bumplings and of MasterChef fame, had a stall. There will be a full day of on-stage entertainment featuring a quirky lineup of performers.
Over 100 volunteers from other Rotary clubs and community organisations help out on the day. Entry is free, however, donations are welcomed and card facilities are available. All profits are invested into dozens of local groups and initiatives over the following year.
From its humble beginnings in 2000, the JacFest has come a long way, with thousands of attendees ensuring that special atmosphere of fun and excitement. Over the years the club has received grants and generous support from sponsors. Last year MLA Kim Giddens presented a $15,000 Lottery West grant and thanked Applecross Rotary for its ongoing commitment to the festival and community.
