Gifts for youth in refuges on Christmas Day

Once again, a Tree of Joy has spread its branches in Beecroft Place shopping complex – a perennial Christmas project of the Rotary Club of Beecroft, NSW.

The Tree of Joy will provide Christmas gifts donated by the Beecroft community for young people in the care of Taldumande – a long-established organisation providing care and support for teenagers facing homelessness and family breakdown. On any given night, Taldumande has around 70 children and young people in refuges, including on Christmas Day.

Taldumande provides tags for the tree, each displaying basic information about a young person in need of a Christmas present.

Donors take a tag, buy an appropriate present or gift card, and leave it with the tag attached at the counter of the nearby Price Line Pharmacy for collection by Beecroft Rotarians, who then deliver the gifts to Taldumande.

The Rotary Club of Beecroft has run this project in Beecroft Place for a number of years, with considerable community support. Last year saw dozens of presents donated, plus gift cards totalling $3,440.
