The Child Health Research Foundation was established by Rotary in 1971 to commemorate the 50th anniversary of Rotary in New Zealand.
Today, the foundation is known as Cure Kids. With the ongoing support of Rotary, new initiatives are continually being developed to raise funds for medical research into children’s life-threatening illnesses. Over the past 52 years, $60 million of world class research has been funded and 1,500 research projects have been completed. This research has achieved world-first breakthroughs in the areas of childhood leukaemia, long QT syndrome, sudden infant death syndrome, cystic fibrosis, genetic research, and asthma.
“Cure Kids is the largest funder of child health research outside the government and is currently supporting over $19 million in child research projects.”

Rotary clubs in New Zealand launched a fundraising campaign to provide polio vaccinations to the last two endemic countries. Cure Kids has also come on board, committing to matching Rotary fundraising with a donation of up to $200,000 to support this vital initiative.
