All club sites in the area covered by Rotary Down Under are listed on the rotarnet website, details of venues, and times of meetings and where appropriate, links to websites are included.

Incorrect information can lead to unhappy potential visitors, especially those travelling from other countries who rely upon the information online.

To alter the information for your club or district site on rotarnet, please email the changes to rotarnet@rotarydownunder.com.au

Changes can also be included in the Rotary Down Under magazine and should be emailed to editorial@rotarydownunder.com.au

Some Districts have the facility to update their club details and the District webmaster may automatically make changes on your behalf. Please ask if this is the case in your district..

email rotarnet@rotarydownunder.com.au for more information

Hosting on rotarnet is reasonably priced. Sites on the rotarnet website pay $75 pa. Hosting fees help to support the rotarydownunder servers.

These club sites received unlimited space (at the moment), receive instructions, transfer programs, and WORD templates (for beginners) all free of charge.

The URL (address of the site will be http://rotarnet.com.au/clubname
An email divert is provided giving an address of clubname@rotarnet.com.au

There are limitations. If a database driven site is required, the site owner does not have access to the club database and it has to be sent to Nepean Blue for loading. Nor does rotarnet support FRONT PAGE extensions, and increasingly, modern versions of WORD also use the same extensions which rotarnet will not support.

For clubs that require either a database, or wish to use FRONT PAGE or a modern version of WORD to create their websites, we recommend either a subdomain or a domain.

A subdomain will cost $100 pa and a one off $50 to set up. The address will be http://clubname.rotarnet.com.au. A subdomain allows you to choose your email address ie treasurer@clubname.rotarnet.com.au

A domain name is of your own choosing and may be clubname.org.au or rotaryclubname.org.au or similar. The cost of a domain name purchase is around $30 ish dollars (which leases the name for 2 years, and after that a further fee will be required). Hosting of a domain is $150 pa and a one off set up fee of $50 is required.

Rotarnet will link to your club or district website - and if required your project website no matter where it is hosted, if the information is emailed to rotarnet@rotarydownunder.com.au

STOP PRESS

Please look at the NEW online managed club web site.

Visit http://lowerbluemountainsrotary.org.au to see how it looks.

This 'online managed' site allows you to create a club website with as many (or as few) 'pages' as you want - to add, or remove pages as required, to upload images, create picture shows, upload documents - all the things you need to do to provide the information your club members and the public would like to see.

(You can of course provide a 'members only' section too and give all your members their own individual user id and password)

No specific training is needed, so specific software for your computer to buy or learn to use!

A 'how to' document is included - plus access to our help desk!

From a webmaster's point of view it is now possible for other individuals to update their section of the site too!

This not only gives the webmaster a break from this duty, it also means the site continues should the webmaster go walkabout!

For more information on this new system email deljeal@nepeanblue.com.au
